FEES AND FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE

No potential student should be discouraged by lack of financial means from making an application to the School.

The Royal Ballet School is a member of the UK Government's Music and Dance Scheme designed to enable young, talented dancers and musicians to receive full-time education and training at a specialist school irrespective of their parent's financial means.

Successful applicants who satisfy European Economic Area residence requirements receive means-tested financial assistance in the form of an Aided Place.

Non EEA applicants are not eligible for UK Government support and must therefore be able to pay full fees and maintenance. However, the School has limited Scholarship and Bursary funds available to assist certain students.

Those who satisfy United Kingdom residence requirements are also entitled to a maintenance grant of £8,499 which is also means-tested in the usual way.

A number of bursaries are also available for students on The Royal Ballet School Summer Schools and Junior, Mid and Senior Associate courses.

The following table shows Parental Contributions for one Aided Boarding student for 2007/2008. Relevant income is Gross Income of the family with an allowance of £1,675 per child other than the child at the school. No allowance is made for mortgage payments.

Withdrawal from the School:
The Governors reserve the right to require the withdrawal from the School of any student who does not appear likely to benefit from the training provided. One full term's notice in writing must be given by a parent wishing to withdraw a pupil from the School. Should any pupil be withdrawn without any such notice being given, it is part of the Contract between the Governors and the parent that the parent shall pay the full fee (not just the Parental Contribution) for the term next following in addition to any fees for the term in which the pupil is withdrawn. A full term's notice must also be given if a child is to be withdrawn from the Junior, Mid or Senior Associate classes.

Acceptance (International Students):
All International students once accepted pay a non-returnable registration fee of £60 and are admitted for a minimum period of one year, subject to satisfactory progress and conduct. The year's fees become due one week before the beginning of the first term. In no circumstances will any balance of the year's fees be repaid if the student does not complete the year of training. Should the period of training be extended beyond one year, fees in advance of the additional period must be paid and on the same conditions.
